The White House has announced that U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New York–New Jersey. The announcement was made by White House officials.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump’s attendance at the final would conclude what she described as “the most-watched, safest, and most successful FIFA World Cup ever held in the United States.”
Leavitt also announced that President Trump will attend an official FIFA event at Trump Tower in New York City on Friday. The event is part of the official program associated with the FIFA World Cup.
When asked which team President Trump would support in the final, Leavitt declined to comment, saying that reporters could pose the question directly to the president.
