Turkey unveiled its first intercontinental ballistic missile, named “Yıldırım-Khan,” at the SAHA 2026 exhibition in Istanbul. This achievement is considered one of the country’s most significant defense accomplishments in recent years.
The missile was introduced by the Research and Development Center of the Turkish Ministry of Defense and is part of the country’s strategic capability development programs.
According to published information, the “Yıldırım-Khan” missile has a range of approximately 6,000 kilometers and a speed reported between Mach 9 and Mach 25. The missile is powered by four engines, and its fuel is identified as nitrogen tetroxide (N₂O₄).
Yaşar Güler, Turkey’s Minister of Defense, stated that this liquid-fueled missile is currently the longest-range ballistic missile in Turkey.
It has also been reported that the “Yıldırım-Khan” can carry a warhead weighing up to 3,000 kilograms, and the use of liquid fuel gives it notable advantages among similar systems.
