A 100-member delegation consisting of traders, exporters, and representatives of Afghanistan’s private sector traveled to Uzbekistan on Saturday with the aim of expanding economic and trade cooperation.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment announced that the delegation, headed by Aryan Zelgi Azimi, traveled to the city of Namangan in Uzbekistan.
According to the chamber, the main objectives of the visit include developing bilateral trade relations, exploring opportunities for joint investment, and increasing exports and imports between the private sectors of the two countries.
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment added that during the trip, members of the delegation will meet and hold talks with Uzbek officials and businesspeople.
The visit comes as the Taliban’s trade relations with Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan, have expanded in recent months.
At the same time, due to tensions and border restrictions that have reduced trade with Pakistan, the Taliban have been trying to strengthen their economic cooperation with northern neighboring countries.
