A seminar titled “Solidarity of Women for Education and the Right to Self-Determination in Afghanistan” was held in Vienna, the capital of Austria, with the aim of supporting Afghan women and girls.
The event took place on Friday, the 21st of Hamal, to mark the 30th anniversary of the cultural association “AKIS” and the 26th anniversary of the publication of the “Bano” magazine. It was attended by cultural, social, and political figures from the Afghan community in Europe and the United States, along with several Austrian officials.
The purpose of this seminar was to draw attention to the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan following recent political developments, strengthen solidarity among Afghan citizens in exile and European institutions, and provide a platform for dialogue between activists, experts, and politicians.
The organizers of the event also announced that, as part of the seminar, two specialized workshops were held on supporting the education of girls and integrating Afghan women into the labor markets of host countries.
This seminar was organized at a time when the Taliban has been preventing girls above the sixth grade from continuing their education for nearly five years.
