In Ashgabat, at Turkmenistan’s National Carpet Festival, Afghan carpets were displayed alongside the host country’s traditional carpets, attracting significant attention from participants.
According to a statement released by Afghanistan’s embassy in Turkmenistan under Taliban administration, the festival was organized to celebrate handicrafts and traditional arts. The event was attended by officials of the host country, foreign diplomats, and representatives from various nations. Fazl Mohammad Saber, the Taliban’s ambassador to Turkmenistan, also took part in the ceremony.
The presence of Afghan carpets at the exhibition was described as a reflection of Afghanistan’s rich cultural heritage and the high artistic value of its handicrafts. Participants praised the craftsmanship, colors, and quality of Afghan carpets, describing them as an important product for regional and international markets.
According to Afghan traders, participation in such international exhibitions provides an important opportunity to promote Afghanistan’s handicrafts and expand exports.
It is also said that the embassy’s participation in the event forms part of a soft diplomacy approach aimed at strengthening regional ties and economic engagement, with the goal of expanding trade and cultural relations.
Experts believe that showcasing Afghan carpets at international exhibitions can create new business opportunities for Afghanistan’s economy and play an important role in promoting the country’s cultural identity.
