
According to the announcement of the Afghanistan Football Federation, the country’s under-17 football team has departed from Kabul today to participate in the 2026 Central Asian Championship, which will be held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The team is scheduled to play its first match two days after arrival.
As per the planned schedule, the players of Ali-Ahmad Yarzada will begin their competition on Monday, 17th of Hamal, 1405 (Afghan calendar), and in their first game, they will face the under-17 team of Kyrgyzstan.
Based on the tournament schedule, the Afghanistan team will play against Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan in the subsequent matches, facing a tight schedule within a short time frame.
The match schedule for Afghanistan’s under-17 team in this competition is as follows:
Afghanistan vs Kyrgyzstan: Monday, 17th of Hamal
Afghanistan vs Turkmenistan: Tuesday, 18th of Hamal
Afghanistan vs Tajikistan: Thursday, 20th of Hamal
Afghanistan vs Uzbekistan: Saturday, 22nd of Hamal
The tournament will take place at the “Dostlik” stadium in Tashkent city, and it is considered one of the major youth football events in the region.
Afghanistan’s under-17 team, which won the championship in 2024, began its preparations for this tournament in Kabul some time ago and will enter the competition with relative readiness.
In previous editions, the tournament was held with six teams, but this year, Iran is not participating among the competitors. At the same time, Tajikistan’s under-17 team is participating as the defending champion of this competition.
