The Afghanistan national football team is ranked 149th in the world.

The Afghanistan national football team has fallen to 169th place in the latest ranking of the International Football Federation, marking a decline of seven positions. This drop comes at a time when Afghan football has faced numerous challenges in recent years, with poor results and continuous defeats having a direct impact on the team’s standing.

According to the same ranking, the Afghanistan national team is also ranked 32nd in Asia. This position highlights the significant gap between Afghanistan and the top teams in Asia, indicating the need for careful planning to improve the situation.

In the global rankings, France, Spain, and Argentina occupy the first to third positions, respectively. Meanwhile, in Asia, Japan, Iran, and South Korea have secured the top three spots and remain the dominant powers of the continent.

Among the teams that have made the most progress, Vietnam has shown the best performance with a remarkable nine-place climb and a significant positive points gain. Additionally, Kosovo, ranked 78th in the world, is one of the teams that has experienced a remarkable improvement in their position.

On the other hand, Malaysia has shown the weakest performance with the largest points drop, falling seventeen places. These changes indicate that international competition remains fierce, and every team, depending on its performance, can quickly experience either a rise or a fall.

The continued decline of Afghan football reflects structural and technical problems within the team. Experts believe that in order to return to a path of progress, implementing fundamental strategies, targeted investments, and establishing stability in the management of football in the country will be essential.
