The Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture has said that during the Eid al-Adha holidays, nearly “four million” domestic and foreign tourists traveled to various recreational, historical, and natural sites across the country.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Khubib Ghufran, said in a video message on Tuesday, 12 Jawza (June), that this number of tourists mostly visited provinces that have natural beauty, historical monuments, and cultural attractions.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture also says that the presence of recreational and historical sites in the country has recently increased the interest of both domestic and foreign tourists in these areas.
He urged tourists to pay full attention to the culture, traditions, and environmental protection of the areas they visit, and also called on local residents to treat guests well in accordance with their cultural values.
Meanwhile, this comes as on 9 Jawza, local residents in the village of Estawi in the central Parun district of Nuristan province said that during the holiday celebrations, one person was killed due to aerial firing and bullets hitting the area. The residents said the deceased was named Zain-ul-Islam.
Residents of Estawi village have called on authorities to prevent people from carrying weapons into Nuristan during holidays and tourist seasons in order to avoid such incidents.
