Summary

In Khost Province, the Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture says that 15 jeribs of land have been allocated in the “Bairagh Tapa” area for the establishment of the province’s public museum and for the preservation of jihad-era artifacts.

According to the department, of this total area, 10 jeribs have been designated for the public museum of Khost, while 5 jeribs have been allocated for a separate museum dedicated to preserving jihad-related artifacts.

Officials state that the current public museum of Khost is operating within the building of the Department of Information and Culture. However, with the construction of a new, standardized facility, expanded and suitable infrastructure will be provided for the preservation and display of historical and cultural artifacts.

They further note that, according to Taliban sources, a dedicated museum for “jihad-era” items will be established, where materials and objects from the jihad period will be systematically preserved and exhibited in an organized and standardized manner.

The land was demarcated by a joint committee comprising representatives from the Departments of Information and Culture, Agriculture and Livestock, and the Municipality, which assessed the boundaries, location, and technical aspects of the proposed museum construction.

Officials add that a detailed site plan (layout map) will be prepared in the next phase, after which the practical construction work on both museums will commence.
