The Israeli media outlet Jewish Insider has reported that the Donald Trump administration has so far left more than 100 U.S. diplomatic posts in West Asia unfilled, and these positions remain without ambassadors.
According to former White House and State Department officials, the continuation of this situation could affect Washington’s political influence and diplomatic activities in the region.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal had reported that the U.S. does not have official ambassadors in several key countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait.
West Asia is considered a strategically important region for U.S. foreign policy in terms of security, politics, and energy, and experts believe that leaving these diplomatic posts vacant could impact regional dynamics and Washington’s relations with its allies.
