Israeli media channel 14 has claimed in a report that, while negotiations were being held between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States in Pakistan, internal conflicts have emerged among senior Iranian officials. The report, citing alleged sources, points to a rift in high-level decision-making circles.
According to the report, Ahmad Vahidi, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), made strong statements in an internal meeting, saying: “We have not yet buried the leader, and Qalibaf is shaking hands with those who killed him.” This claim comes while Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has been leading the Iranian negotiating delegation in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, earlier, the media outlet “Iran International” also reported differences of opinion among senior Iranian officials on the eve of these negotiations. The report stated that the disagreements were primarily over the composition of the negotiating team and the extent of authority granted to its members.
Based on this information, it is said that Ahmad Vahidi has tried to limit the powers of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Parliament, and Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister. Additionally, some IRGC commanders have emphasized that the negotiating delegation should refrain from engaging in any discussions regarding Iran’s missile program.
