Marking June 6, Russian Language Day and the birth anniversary of the renowned Russian poet and writer Alexander Pushkin, a series of cultural and educational events have been held in Afghanistan and several countries around the world.
According to a report by the Russian news agency TASS, an educational seminar was organized in Afghanistan, during which participants discussed the historical development of the Russian language and its role in global literature and culture. The report did not specify the exact location where the event took place.
The seminar formed part of a broader program of annual activities held to commemorate Russian Language Day and honor the legacy of Pushkin, featuring a range of cultural and educational initiatives.
Internationally, the occasion was marked through poetry readings, book and photography exhibitions, literary forums, and educational programs across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In several countries, poetry recitation competitions and special events for students and young people were also organized.
TASS further reported that ceremonies involving the laying of flowers at Pushkin memorials, cultural festivals, and specialized conferences on the teaching and promotion of the Russian language were held in a number of countries.
These events are aimed at promoting the Russian language and fostering greater appreciation of the literary heritage of one of Russia’s most celebrated writers.
June 6 is officially observed in Russia as Russian Language Day and Pushkin Day. Each year, similar commemorative events are organized both within Russia and abroad.
Earlier, the Russian Center for Diplomacy announced plans to open a representative office in Kabul before the end of the current calendar year, an initiative described as part of broader efforts to promote the Russian language.
