The organization “Polio-Free Afghanistan” has announced that the nationwide polio vaccination campaign will begin today, except in the provinces of Bamiyan, Daykundi, and Ghor.
On Monday, April 24, the organization stated that the campaign has been delayed in Bamiyan, Ghor, and Daykundi due to cold weather.
According to the organization, the vaccination campaign in these provinces will be held next week.
Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health has stated that the campaign will last three days, and 12.6 million children under the age of five will be vaccinated.
Polio has not yet been eradicated in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
According to the World Health Organization, last year, two confirmed cases of polio were recorded in the provinces of Badghis and Helmand.
