Ranveer Singh, the well-known Bollywood star, has faced backlash from the Western India Cine Employees Union following a dispute with the producers of the film Don 3. The union has asked its members not to cooperate with the actor until further notice.
According to the union, Ranveer Singh suddenly withdrew from the project only a few weeks before filming was scheduled to begin. Union officials stated that the producers had already spent around 450 million rupees (approximately 4.7 million US dollars) on pre-production.
The president of the Western India Cine Employees Union stressed the importance of maintaining professional standards in the film industry and announced that a “non-cooperation order” had been issued against Ranveer Singh until he provides an official explanation.
He also said that the purpose of this action was to send a clear message to the film industry: “No star is above professional rules and commitments.”
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has not yet issued an official response to the matter. However, some reports suggest that his legal and management team have questioned the authority of the union to summon or pressure actors.
The film Don first gained fame in 1978 starring Amitabh Bachchan, and later new versions were produced featuring Shah Rukh Khan. The selection of Ranveer Singh for the lead role in the latest installment had attracted widespread attention from the media and audiences.
Ranveer Singh, who rose to great popularity with films such as Padmaavat and Gully Boy, is considered one of the most popular stars of the new generation of Bollywood cinema.
