The Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce says that, in order to promote Afghanistan’s exports, work is underway on a plan to establish export processing centers in Kabul and various regions across the country. The ministry states that once these centers are completed, greater facilities and support will be provided to exporters.
According to the ministry, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi met with a number of Afghan exporters who export their goods to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. During the meeting, the exporters expressed appreciation for the ministry’s efforts to facilitate exports and provided updates on the export process and the transportation of goods to Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.
According to the ministry’s statement, Nooruddin Azizi said that serious efforts are underway to establish export processing centers in Kabul and different regions of the country. He added that the completion of these centers would make Afghanistan’s export process more efficient and faster.
Azizi also instructed relevant officials at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to maintain ongoing communication with exporters so that their challenges can be addressed in a timely manner.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce further stated that, with the aim of facilitating trade and reducing customs barriers, member states of the Eurasian Economic Union have granted preferential tariffs for Afghan export products. The Eurasian Economic Union consists of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.
