The biography Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi, written by Dhiraj Kumar, is set for publication and chronicles the life and career of Sridevi, the legendary Indian actress.
According to the Politics Daily website, Priyanka Chopra shared the cover of the book on the social media platform X on Thursday, August 13, coinciding with Sridevi’s birth anniversary. The book will be published by Westland Books and traces Sridevi’s journey from her beginnings as a child actor to becoming one of the biggest female stars in Indian cinema.
The biography examines Sridevi’s career across five languages and more than 300 films, exploring her landmark roles, her place in Indian cinema, and her influence on subsequent generations. It also delves into her life away from the spotlight and will feature seven forewords by prominent figures from Indian cinema, contributions by Amitabh Bachchan and Javed Akhtar, and more than 150 rare photographs.
Sridevi died in 2018 at the age of 54. She appeared in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films and became one of the most celebrated figures in Indian cinema over the course of her career.
Among Sridevi’s best-known films are Himmatwala, Mr. India, Chandni, ChaalBaaz, Lamhe, Khuda Gawah, Judaai, English Vinglish, and Mom.
The film Khuda Gawah was particularly popular in Afghanistan. Released in 1992, the film was partly shot in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.
According to the report, Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi is scheduled for release across India in late 2026.
