Foreign Ministers of Eight Islamic Countries Strongly Condemn Israel’s Death Penalty Law for Palestinians in a Joint Statement
The foreign ministers of eight Islamic countries have strongly condemned the approval of a law by Israel that allows the execution of Palestinians. This statement was issued by the countries of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
The statement notes that the law, which was recently passed in the Israeli parliament, paves the way for the implementation of the death penalty in Israeli territories, and there is a possibility that it could be practically applied to Palestinians.
The foreign ministers of these countries have warned that Israel’s increasing and discriminatory actions are shaping an apartheid system—one that ignores the basic rights and even the existence of the Palestinian people within Israel.
The statement continues to emphasize that this law, especially because of its discriminatory nature towards Palestinian prisoners, is seen as a troubling development that exacerbates the crisis and could lead to increased tensions and regional instability.
These countries have also expressed deep concern about the situation of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention, referring to reports of torture, inhuman treatment, beatings, and deprivation of basic rights.
In the final part of the statement, it is highlighted that these actions fall within a broader framework of violations of Palestinian rights and reflect the continuation of policies that are contributing to the intensification of the crisis in Israel.
According to reports, the Israeli parliament has recently passed a law under which Palestinians who are accused and convicted of carrying out major attacks in military courts may be sentenced to death by hanging.
