Summary

The child abuse case involving two sisters aged 15 and 7 in the city of Sanandaj has once again drawn public attention to the issue of violence against children, as well as the ongoing challenges in protecting and monitoring vulnerable minors.

Narin and Aylin, two girls from Sanandaj, after years of living in difficult conditions and enduring physical and psychological abuse, were ultimately removed from this situation following reports by neighbors and the intervention of emergency rescue services, social emergency units, and judicial authorities.

The publication of images and reports regarding the physical condition of the two sisters has generated widespread reactions across social media and news outlets, once again highlighting the effectiveness of child protection mechanisms and the manner in which responsible institutions intervene.

According to reports, the case entered a new phase on June 12, 2026, when residents of the Hajiabad neighborhood in Sanandaj once again alerted Social Emergency Services and relevant authorities regarding the situation of the children. Neighbors stated that signs of malnutrition, physical abuse, deprivation of basic necessities, and forced isolation had been visible for a considerable period.

Local sources say that despite prior warnings, effective intervention had been delayed. According to residents, the father had previously denied the allegations and obstructed officials from entering the residence, thereby preventing a comprehensive assessment of the children’s living conditions.

This time, however, after neighbors noticed the absence of the father and stepmother, emergency and judicial teams entered the home with legal authorization and found the two girls in critical condition. They were subsequently transferred to a medical facility for urgent treatment and care.

According to statements from family members, Narin, the 15-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries, including fractures to the jaw, pelvis, and femur. Reports also indicate the presence of burn marks, infected wounds, severe malnutrition, anemia, and other significant health complications affecting both children.

Following media coverage of the case, local authorities including the Prosecutor of Sanandaj, the Governor, the Director-General of the Welfare Organization of Kurdistan Province, and the Governor-General of Kurdistan ordered an immediate investigation. Reports further state that the father has been arrested, while the stepmother is under judicial investigation and subject to restrictions.

Authorities have also announced that following the discharge of the two sisters from medical care, accommodation will be provided for them and their mother in a designated housing unit.

This case has once again turned the issue of child protection, and the urgent need for rapid institutional response to reports of domestic violence, into a major focus of public concern.
