One day after reports emerged about the fall of the city of “Dera Ghazi” in the Mastung district of Balochistan, Pakistan, the country’s military and government officials have yet to provide an official and clear response, and their silence continues.
According to published reports, following the takeover of the city by Baloch separatist forces, the main entry and exit routes of Dera Ghazi remain closed, and several government, administrative, and security centers are under the control of these forces.
Armed individuals affiliated with separatist groups have stated that during this operation, they captured the police station, government offices, administrative centers, and some of the city’s security facilities. It is also reported that Pakistani military and security forces have retreated from parts of the city, and a quantity of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment has fallen into the hands of these groups.
The city of Dera Ghazi is considered an important and strategic area located along the Quetta-Taftan transit highway. This route is one of the key highways for the movement of military forces, transportation of security equipment, and commercial transport in southwestern Pakistan.
