Summary

Ali Yaqubi, writer and director of the comedy programs “Khanda Qand” and “Sanaf Jim,” has announced that production of both shows has been halted due to financial constraints and at the request of TOLO TV.

According to him, only a few pre-produced episodes will be broadcast in the coming days on TOLO TV, after which the airing of new episodes will be discontinued.

TOLO TV has not yet responded to the matter and has not issued any official statement regarding the suspension of production of the two programs.

“Khanda Qand” and “Sanaf Jim” were among the popular comedy shows, known for their Herati dialect, that had been produced and aired on TOLO TV over the past several years and had attracted a wide audience.

The announcement of the suspension comes at a time when many Afghan media outlets have faced financial difficulties, declining revenue streams, and various restrictions following the collapse of the previous republic.
