Local sources in Badakhshan province report that Leilma, the wife of Salam Maftoon, a local singer, was shot and killed on the morning of Thursday, May 7, while on her way to work in the market of Ashkasham district.
According to these sources, Leilma ran a women-only tailoring workshop in the local Ashkasham market, through which she earned a living to support her family. After being injured, she was taken to the district clinic, but she succumbed to her wounds due to their severity.
Local sources also stated that Leilma followed the Ismaili sect. This incident occurred amid growing concerns among local residents about security and increasing threats in remote areas.
So far, local authorities have not provided information regarding the motive behind the attack or the identities of those involved. In recent months, reports of similar incidents in some provinces have raised concerns about public safety, particularly the safety of women.
